June ended up being a pretty big month, with the 80th anniversary of D-Day, some good content across my Blog and YouTube feeds, but the biggest news is that Ricoh/Pentax which has been talking about bringing about a new film camera did so on the 17th. You can find three articles from fellow film bloggers in this post. And a note to my readers, this will be the final entry in the series. I’ve been finding them incredibly difficult to put together, so I’ve made the choice to end this particular monthly feature. 35mmc – Pentax 645 – A Review of a Budget Medium FormatRead More →

May is always a fun month, besides being my birthday month, the weather is starting to get a lot better and I’m able to get out more. And this month presented a bunch of excellent pieces that crossed my desk including a whole pile of entries on the same topic that had a moment at the start of the month. Dead Hands Cameras This isn’t just one entry, this is a bunch of entries. At the beginning of the month, I joined a group of my fellow bloggers in writing about the five cameras that you would need to pry from our cold dead hands.Read More →

Ha Ha, this is a pry from my dead hands camera…😀 There’s one fun part about being connected to so many amazing photographers and bloggers over the world because of the Internet. Often you come up with ideas like this, a whole series of posts on the same subject with a coordinated release. This idea comes from Jim Grey (Down the Road), from a conversation where Theo (PhotoThinking) was looking for links for his review of the Voigtlander Superb. Peggy (Camera Go Camera) suggested he give her the camera, and Theo replyed “this is a pry this from my dead hands camera.” Jim jumped onRead More →

March came in with a tonne of amazing news in the Film Photography world! From new cameras to new films, things certainly are looking amazing for the spring. So here are my picks of articles and videos that crossed my desk for the month that has a dual personality, lion and lamb. Kosmo Foto – New Pentax Film Camera will be a Half-Frame Following up from the articles that went around the Internet back in January, there was an amazing update from Ricoh about their efforts to build new film cameras and news that one will be released in the summer of this year. While we’re still far from summer vacation, many people are already starting to figure out where they’re going on holidays this year. As photographers, especially film photographers, it can be challenging to choose what camera(s) to bring and how to keep things to a minimum! There is a temptation to bring everything plus the kitchen sink along for the ride, and if any member of the CCR team knows this full well, it’s Alex. But when space is limited, and extra bags cost airlines money, we may need to rethink and start packing a little lighter. This is a follow-up to the original episode recordedRead More →

One of the more interesting parts of B&W film photography is the ablity to adjust how the film behaves. There are many different ways of adjusting how the film looks, you can over or under expose the film, or push/pull the film in development. You also have various different developers to adjust how the film looks and different dilutions. But there is also the ideas of adding coloured filters to your lens to change what light and how much light hits your film. Now it might seem weird to put coloured glass over black & white film, but it can adjust and change how differentRead More →

January is either a busy for quiet month around the Internet. With the cold weather and post-holiday slump all being a part of this trend. But for those who are writing and creating content, January can also be a good time to get back behind the keyboard and work on partly completed work. Here are the blog posts and YouTube videos that caught my eye in January. My Journey Into Photography – Ferrania P30 Review Jim is one of my favourite ‘new’ photographers who is loving exploring as much as he can around film and film cameras.
